Is MailDrop already working?

I have tried to send a big file via Mail using the new intruded MailDrop feature. But Mail quits with an error message.

Has someone successfully sent a file using MailDrop?

I've only tried it once but it seemed to work very well for me.
When you try to attach file that is too large it asks you if you want to use MailDrop. When you click send it uploads the file and generates a URL for the file that is pasted in the bottom of the email.
Looking at the URL it seems to upload the file to an S3 server thats local to you. I live in Denmark and my file was uploaded to an EU server located in Ireland (i presume).

My URL looked like this: https://s3-eu-irl-105-prod.digitalhub.com/(...)

digitalhub.com is apparently an Apple owned domain.

Unable to send attachments with Mail Drop. Please try again later

It seems to work here as well (Denmark also), though the email containing the attachment is now stuck in the Drafts folder and can't be deleted.

Apparently it didn't work. There was no download link in the email.

do I just attach a file like any other attachment?

That's what I did. But, as mentioned above, there was no download link in the email, only the text saying "Click to Download".

I've tried to use it to send a .zip file but there was no 'use mail drop' option; I also tried to send the attachment as a normal folder but still no option. The message just goes to the 'drafts' folder and the attachment is removed.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I need to use this feature ASAP if possible!

Obviously using OS X Yosemite!

I don't think you have to do anything. It looks like it's supposed to use MailDrop automatically if the attachment is too large to send in the regular way.

Yeah, I re-watched WWDC and that's what he said, and what I thought would happen, but nothing's happening and the message won't send.

It worked great for me. I tried it form my iCloud to my gmail account with a 21mb and a 302mb file. Both came through to the gmail pretty quickly. It only works if you are using the iCloud webpage or the Mac Mail app. It never asked me if I wanted to use MailDrop, it just did.

It failed when I tried to use Airmail, which I expected. Hopefully 3rd party mail apps will update to be able to use this feature.

When I tried gmail to gmail in the Mac Mail app, it did ask me if I wanted to use MailDrop. I chose yes and it came through just fine.

I've tried to send the message with both the Mail app and iCloud webmail, however I get these problems with the latter, and my problems with the former are listed above.

I believe I've found the root cause of the issue; I don't think the feature is working correctly in the public beta (which I installed to see if it would fix some issues with DP3/4), however upon installing DP5, the feature seems to be working OK so far (file has uploaded).

I will let you know soon if the recipient can open the file in the link shortly.

So if you have the PB then, at least in my experience, there is no Mail Drop.

Hence I said "in my experience" - I didn't expect it to be a general problem however for some reason it's not working for me.
