Is my battery defective?

Hi.

I purchased a MBP 2.2 about 6 months ago and I've always felt that my battery life was lacking. After the recent battery update, I noticed that Apple might replace your battery if it exhibits a low runtime/charge cycle ratio. My battery has 150 charge cycles on it and its remaining max charge capacity 2690 mAH, or about 55% of it's original capacity.

According to Apple, a properly maintained battery should retain up to 80% of its charge capacity after 300 full charge cycles. I talked to an Apple genius about my problem, but the best he could do was send my battery in for "testing" (at my expense if Apple deems the problem normal wear and tear).

So what do you guys think? Do I have a good shot at getting my battery replaced? Before you ask, I have tried recalibrating the battery exactly as suggested by Apples support site.

BTW, I get about 90 minutes on a full charge with the lcd on full brigthness and only using safari.

call apple care, I had the same peoblem and they mailed me a new battery for no charge.

Thanks for the input. However, I did call applecare, but they would only submit the laptop for testing. I am really uncomfortable submitting my mpb for testing when I have no idea what Apple considers acceptable wear and tear. I wish the customer support person I talked to was willing to just send me a replacement battery. What exactly did you say to have them comply so easily?

Call back and speak to someone else. 90 minutes is not nearly long enough. It is less then 300 charge cycles so I dont see what the problem would be.

Yeah, just call back untill you get get someone who is helpful
