is my graphics card going?

i just did a leopard reinstall so it shouldnt be software related but i can get the machine to reproduce the second pic sometimes (where the animation to minimize freezes if i try to pull up the auto hide box or make a window box with the cursor while its minimizing)

got an early 2008 with 8600m gt 256mb
