If you typed this post on an iPhone then it is definitely defective.

I'm fairly certain you would be able to tell if you had an "iClone" go the Genius Bar, after all they are the judge and jury when it comes to defects.

thanks but the nearest apple store / att closed in my area and it would take like 2 hours to get to the others ugh, but i gues thanks for your answer if you have any more ideas post i would love to hear more

Mine also looks navy blue and my battery is very inconsistent, the percentage randomly goes up sometime with out being put into a charger?

I took mine into the apple store and I was told if you make a back up of the phone from a previous iphone it will mess with the battery configuration so I did as they said and restored it to factory settings then today I had to update something so I plugged it into my comp and went from 30 precent to 60 while charging for 5 min??? Also when I wake it from sleep sometimes it is very dim and I have to re-hit the wake button? Does yours do this as well?

the dim thing happens sometimes and the fast charge happens regularly its just when the battery is empty it falsly reports percentage i think

Well I am debating going back to the apple store tomorrow and having them run diagnostics again. I really don't want to exchange my new 3gs for a refurb already I just got the thing a little over a week ago. I just wanted to see if this was a bug that can be fixed in 3.1

so people, any ideas as to mostly why my back is dark navy blue and not black COMPARED to other iphones?

dude...i dont know what to tell you...if you posted a few pictures of your phone here then we would be able to diagnose the problem.

until then...google flux capacitor and brush up on your 80's films ;)

This is actually pretty common from what I understand. The screen usually has a yellow hue to it if its not getting enough power. Its probably a defective battery, just plug it into your computer and check that its giving off 1.21 jigawatts.

the phone also works best when traveling at 88 mph

fyi OP: In direct sunlight, all black iphones give off a navy blue tinge...this is normal

the yellow screen thing has been discussed on this forum A LOT...look it up

your phone is a real iphone. if you're unsatisfied with it, bring it to the apple store. maybe theyll switch it out for you. If not, unfortunately you're SOL

also, the battery can be sporadic at times...give it time to sort itself out

the screen dimming is a software defect, so just wait that one out

hope this helps
