Well I was trying to update my 2.1 jailbroken iPhone to 2.2.1 today I did it in the wrong way. I first restored my iphone not realizing that it was also going to update it to 2.2.1 (even though it asked me if it was ok). So then got the updated 2.2.1 jailbreak ispw and attempted to restore my iphone with that. I gave me error 21 that says the iphone cannot restore. I guess this mean I can never jailbreak my iphone again unless the DevTeam somehow manages a way around this. But am I screwed or not?

No, it just means you didn't enter DFU mode properly. You can't unlock the phone via yellowsn0w now, because you updated the baseband. But you can certainly unlock. If it were me, I'd download QuickPwn and jailbreak the thing.

As for jailbreaking you are not screwed. DevTeam has already released support for jailbreaking 2.2.1 - simply use the latest version of QuickPwn.

However you may doomed as far as unlocking is concerned, at least for the immediate future.
