I went to the apple store last week and got a replacement, so I want to know if my new iPhone 3gs Is jailbreakable, the serial number on my phone is xxx02 but when I read things it says if it's under 39 your good, but mines xxx02... Is this serial number the same as my old phone? Cause my old iPhone was made in week 2 also, my firmware is "3.1.2(1711)" so is my phone jailbreakable through blackra1n?

Thanks!

It will probably be a tethered jailbreak, though. You will have to run blackra1n twice initially, and once again every time you have to reboot your iPhone.

hmm...if its a refurb we cant really tell you because they put a new serial number on it than its original one before it was used. you'd have to jailbreak and find out.

Wait so if I don't have a letter in my serial code it's not a refurb?
Mines like this ###02
so it's not a refurb? I only ask if it's jailbreakable because I don't really have a computer to do a restore on, but I have one to do a jailbreak on,

one time i tried to jailbreak my ipod touch with a pc that didnt have itunes, and blackra1n didnt work....

really? you tried on 2 identical computers, the only difference being itunes is installed on 1? I think not.
Itunes being present makes not one whit of difference to blackra1n

Correlation does not imply causation. You are falling victim to the cum hoc ergo propter hoc or false cause logical fallacy.

Note: you seem susceptible to this fallacy. It is the same logical fallacy that led you and magas to get all excited about a "new way to downgrade." The fact that the time magas was able to restore to a custom 3.1.3 he was also spoofing his SHSH locally did not mean that spoofing it locally had any effect on the outcome. It was just a coincidence.

going back to magas's situation, how did you manage to get your wife's SHSH's? i cant seem to get mine. do you think it only works on some iphones? or is there a glitch where it still thinks its signing partly.

I'm sorry, that was a mistake on my part. I had edited my hosts file to point to Saurik's server, so it was actually getting them from him, not from Apple. It was a silly mistake, and I should have figured it out sooner. Sorry if I got your hopes up; I knew it didn't make any sense.

Oh, and I also forgot that back in November when she asked me to upgrade her to 3.1 I took a moment to jailbreak with redsn0w just long enough to get her on-file with Saurik before restoring her to 3.1 stock. Foresight on my part, but silly of me to forget it.
