I upgraded and bought two hitachi 500gb drives and went to install them today with no problem. booted up and it cycles through the first white boot up screen then just leaves me at a black screen with a flashing cursors... What happened and can someone give me any ideas as to how to fix this? Thanks

yeah, i'm back to one and only hd in there now

with just the original Mac OSX installed drive in the system try booting it while holding down the option key on the keyboard. If that doesnt work do a search on zap pram for the mac pro. there is also a reset button on the motherboard. Your Mac is very likely not dead just hung at the moment. Just sounds to me like the mac did not like the hitachi drives.

FIXED IT! w00t!

Ran disk utility and my permissions looked like something out of a horror movie... probably around 12-15 different items that needed to be fixed... odd that it happened right when i put the disks in.... you don't think that had anything to do with it?
