New MacBook Pro 16 inch battery power chime went off while it was charging. Could there have been water damage?

Keep in mind have OCD with new new tech. Anyway just opened my MacBook Pro 16 inch. Before I opened it I washed my hands. I dried them as best as possible. Opened the MacBook and plugged it in the charger. 15 mins after playing with it the battery charm sound went off. Basically like I unplugged and replugged the charger but I didn’t do that. It did it by itself. Also doubt it was loose since it’s MagSafe. Is it damaged? Maybe my hands were a bit damped and I plugged the MagSafe charger in wet? Maybe that caused a short or something? It hasn’t happened since. Maybe a software bug. I don’t know. I get overly cornered when I spend a lot of money on something fancy.

What OS are you on? There were issues with charging with Monterey. That should have been fixed with 12.1. The current version is 12.3.

Try upgrading if you have not, afterwards try shutting the device down via the Apple logo and wait 5 minuten and restart.

No. it’s virtually impossible to cause water damage following washing and even marginally drying your hands.
