iPad Pro Is my screen OK? M1 11"

Hey All, I got the new IPP 11" M1 yesterday and so far I love it. I went on reddit and noticed people talking about screen uniformity, darker corners on a full white screen. I decided to take pics of my screen from different angles and straight on, and I see these really faint streaks on the screen in some photos.

Do photos show actual problems screens have? Or do they "make up" problems that aren't really there? Maybe due to the exposure/iphone digital processing? In-person my screen looks perfect and uniform when looking straight on or even on a slight angle. If I tilt my viewing angle a lot, I sort of can see very slight streaks like in the photos but I'd never use it that way. I'm trying to figure out if this is OK/normal, or should I return it? I'm just worried if I return it I'd find the same thing and start the screen lottery thing everyone talks about. Is my screen OK/acceptable? Thanks in advance!

Looks fine to me. The real test is actual use not staring at s white or black screen looking for something you wouldn't otherwise see.

If you don't see any screen problems during normal use, you are good.

I never even noticed anything until looking at the photos that I forced myself to take after seeing people on reddit post pics of their "faulty" units. If I view it at a good angle, I can very slightly see streaks that are a little brighter. But normal use and looking at normal angles? It all looks good.

Most of the people on reddit are clowns, if it‘s fine In normal use you got nothing to worry about then

if it is bothering this much get it replaced for peace of mind

I hear you. I think it would only bother me if I knew that cameras may pick up the "real" screen. But in normal use it looks perfect. Here is another shot I just took. You can slightly see brighter parts on the screen. But when I take the phone away and just look at it, it all looks uniform. Guess I'm just asking the forum if its normal, and why this happens with cameras? Thanks again everyone for all the replies.

Now you’re making sense lol, the camera is over exposing the whites on your iPad, it’s common with cameras,

Upon restarting the Spanish course download in Duolingo (from an almost-white screen) on my new 1TB 11” Pro I was able to pick up on a definite dim spot in/above the home-bar area of the display when docked on the Magic Keyboard or on its lefthand side when oriented vertically. Took a (yes, exaggerated) photo for effect:

The other 11” 2021 models I switched from (512GB Silver Cellular and before that a 256GB Space Grey Cellular) didn’t seem to exhibit this issue—annoying. Will probably have it switched out sooner rather than later but I was hoping to be able to delay my next Apple Store visit—even if it won’t technically cost anything—as long as possible.

That just looks like normal off-angle too me. All LCD's don't look uniform viewing from an angle.

I can guarantee, sadly yet anecdotally, that the display does indeed look markedly worse than on those last two 2021 11” models, even/especially head on (just difficult to capture with a camera). I don’t mind the usual IPS glow or backlight quirks but this is simply too much for a $1000+ device—color and light are both perceptibly washed out in a way that feels like a permanent defect, not simple off-angle IPS shift.

Edit: Seeing it yet? Trust me, as much as I’d love to be able to ignore it, it’s there. Bottom-center. Yes, there are smudges and fingerprints and the home-bar as well as my phone camera all working together to make it more difficult to see, but it’s there.

sorry to hear, but from your pic it looks OK and just normal due to taking the photo at an angle. Post a straight-on pic and that would tell better.

theres always panel lottery. Trust your eyes and brain. Especially if you had a sample of three. I believe this one is less good than the others from what you said.

So true—the others did just that in that simple, usually-quality, Apple-sourced LCD way. This one, however, feels damaged or burned-in or something. I really don’t want to exchange it again the serial even contains my lucky number!

not fully representative like any photo, and I think its easier to photograph these displays with lesser cameras (used my 2017 iPad Pro to capture this one) but my 2021 11" is bright and crisp and Im happy with it

Probably is fine. From what I read no screen is perfect. The LCD tech is to blame

Lol, there is a few trolls on these forums who were trashing the 12.9" model, now apparently they’re having issues with their 11" models, can’t get any funnier than this can it? Don’t listen to people and enjoy your newly purchased iPad.

Good question, I know cameras blow out and over exposed screens, unevenness not so sure, if you’re that unsure about your iPad, return it for a new one ?
