It should feel faster because of the SSD, everything will open almost immediately. I would get 4GB because the RAM is not upgradeable.

I would save the money and upgrade the HD and RAM.

if your macbook is 'Macbook 3.1', you can upgrade your ram to 6GB... if you want to.

this is an macbook 2.1

i dont wanna upgrade it becuse the scrren has 2 green lines and dvd drive is broken and more. its not worth it:) this machine is 2007 model so i want a new mac::)

i think the macbook air 4gb ddr3 ram + 128 gb ssd is a good mac for me:) i use 55 gb of my 80 gb hdd now, so a 120 gb ssd is all that i need:) i think. hace an external drive on 120 gb that i can storage movies and old pictures on:)

its better to upgrade it to 4gb ddr2 ram because that way he gains dual channel support... also 6gb is still expensive

The MBA will be miles ahead of your current MacBook - Apart from the fact that is is missing a few ports and it has no optical drive ;) However if you don't need those things I think you'll love it!

EXACTLY. I have the same MB he has and I deff do not need the optical drive I never use it to be honest. I can pretty much say that I cannot remember the last time I did use it. So a few days ago prior to knowing about the new MBAs i was in the market for the MBP but it isnt as light as the MBA which is what I wanted. I am grateful for this site or that I found it or I would have never new about the MBA either. :D

LOL wasnt Friday the 13th!! Sorry for that I love movies as well but usually do not use my MB for those. I did only once but that was something I rented on Itunes. I wouldnt mind seeing pics of both either but I think I am in the market for the 11.6 so far ppl have been saying that it isnt that small. I would still keep my MB for much heavier things like college. But the pics would be nice since I havent found those on here yet either. Just the 11.6 pics mostly.

why should he spend $999 minimum when he can spend $120-150 to upgrade his RAM to 4 gb and his HD to 250 or 500gb??

I have a 3,1 macbook and i am doing just that. I have a core 2 duo with 2 ghz and will have 4 gigs or RAM and 250 HD (not upgrading t0 7200 to avoid heat and vibration). Going from 1 gig of RAM and 80 gb HDD- so 4 times the improvement!

So faster processor, same or more ram and more storage. He could even get the hybrid HDD with 4gb of flash memory in the drive for fairly cheap. As opposed to $999.

If you have the money and your macbook is not meeting all your needs then by all means get the AIR and enjoy. I like the AIR too but i choose to upgrade my macbook.

ah... well then yes it sounds time for a replacement. I didnt know it was damaged or in poor condition. Go for the AIR and enjoy! Let us know how it compares!
