Will be migrating from 6S to SE today.

Usually I start afresh manually and enter everything by hand, but I feel there's too much to do this time so I'm looking at the new transfer feature..

What I'm wondering is if this will carry over any 'junk' from the operating system to the new phone... or does it rebuild from the ground up and just transfer the data ?

Also is it any different from backing up via iTunes and restoring to the new phone?

Thanks ..

I used to do the same as you with everything using fresh installs only. I’ve had really good luck with going the transfer route lately. Recently, I’ve gone back and gone between iPhone SE and 6s plus and finally onto a new 11 using this method and its been seamless.

I transfer my settings/data every year, usually through iTunes backup. Last year I did the wireless migrate without iTunes and it worked great.
