As the title says. Is now a good time for a new AirPods Pro? Or are we not far off from an upgraded version?

Thanks

Miyagi

I bought AirPods Pro last week and decided to return them. There are too many quality complaints for me. I'll wait for the next version of them, which shouldn't be all that far off.

Now that Apple has (finally) officially recognized the "Rattlegate" issue, I don't think there are any other issues with the Pros. I'd probably still wait for rumors about the next gen tho, they've been out a whole year now, the new ones can't be far away.

Thanks I think I might wait. I mean I do have the first gen AirPods I can use in the mean time. I just thinking I am getting new iPhone 12 mini and might as well get Air Pods Pro. However think I might wait out a little longer.

I am wondering that as well...
But I guess I am going to buy AirPod pros in the next couple of weeks. I hope for a nice Black Friday or any other Christmas offer...and if it’s a nice offer I hope that even if apple releases a new version beginning of next year it won’t hurt to much...;)

I just bought APP at Apple store today. They’re my first set of AirPods. My old earbuds were the $30 in-ear ones that I found on Amazon. I thought about waiting for next gen APP but I don’t want to wait till late half of 2021 and it seems the audio issues of APP are now addressed by Apple’s replacement program.

That’s good. Enjoy your new AirPods Pro The way I see it now is that if I get the newer AirPod Pro and if a few months down the road the next gen out. I will have serious buyers remorse. Plus I still have my first gen AirPods that work fine for me.

I am on the same boat as you... I have the 1gen regular Airpods which I enjoy alot, but noticed the batter on the pods doesn't last as long (had them for a while)... but I need noise cancellation, so I'm thinking about upgrading to the APP... but don't know if I should jump and grab one now during the holiday season... or prefable to wait for the next version. Hopefully they have it for the announce on Nov 10.

If the rumors of new IPP are true (a design closer to Sennheiser's, Jabra's B&O) i'll be all over that thing.
As for the current model, i would wait a month to get it.

Got the wifey the pros as an early Xmas present last week, $199 at Walmart (tax free for using the Walmart cc).
She loves them and I’m impressed with how the noise cancellation works. It’s true with what many stated, that it just shuts out background noise dramatically.
I have a knockoff that I ordered from AliExpress, but will probably give it to my son when I get myself a APP in the coming weeks.
I am wishfully waiting for the Nov. 10th event and see if they will be announcing a 2nd gen, but it is highly unlikely.

Hey everyone,

I appreciate all your inputs. So I have decided that now I am going to order the Air Pod Pros. As mentioned in this thread any problems the pros have been having seem to have been resolved. Also recently my wife has been using my first gen Air Pods and not had a chance to get them back from her lol.

So will try look for some good deals on the AirPods Pro and then order. I know Amazon are doing them for like £50 less than Apple but I think I may get a discount from my work. So see what they say this week. Anyways thanks all.

Just a bad idea to get them now. They are a year old already. If anything I would get a pair of regular AirPods for $99 on sale right now just to tide me over until the new Pros come out. Or even better, get a cheap pair of $40 Bluetooth earbuds from Amazon just to tide you over a few months.

Don't buy them without getting Applecare.
Waste of money in my experience.

AirPods: December 2016
AirPods 2: March 2019
AirPods 3: Rumoured for first quarter 2021? - Two years since AirPods 2

AirPods Pro: October 2019
AirPods Pro 2: My guess - at least 2 years since AirPods Pro, so last quarter 2021.

There has to be a new model coming, no?

The amount of major sales has been rather staggering.

Maybe everyone just has too much inventory backed up?

I see no reason why one shouldn’t make a purchase. Nothing I have read indicates with verified confirmation, that a new model release is imminent.
Especially after the last Apple conference. I was expecting a new 16” MacBook Pro since the 13” was already refreshed this year, but the 13” was refreshed again.

I don't have them (Just second gen w/ wireless charging case) Still thinking about the Pro's...BUT, I am waiting for another massive sale from Amazon OR Staples - currently on sale at $194.

I think, more like a gut feeling these may just drop in price a little more between now and Xmas. MAYBE?? If so, I may pull the trigger then.
