Just in case you're interested, I think this guy makes real valid points.

Whilst I agree it's all hype and somewhat a disappointment (result of the OP5 hype) I believe they are doing well to generate such interest in their products and to have built from the ground up is some achievement.

To some degree people believe Apple are built on hype and hype alone. But that's not entirely true since there's more to apples product line and service!

Haven't watched the video, but yes it's mostly all hype. This year in particular. Reason for this year is because Oppo started increasing the rice of their phone, to make an actual profit. However the reason they was getting a lot of credit previously was for having high end specs, but at a lower cost. Now that it's not that much cheaper, it's lost its edge.

I am honestly surprised they've not been sued for copying the iPhone 7 Plus's design so closely.

These "myths" he's talking about are just pure marketing, all companies misrepresent things to a certain degree to upsell their devices or cover up mistakes.

It's definitely not anything special to just throw high end specs in a cheap Chinese phone though. Xiaomi has been doing that for a lot longer than OnePlus. It's because if you have economies of scale on your side and you're willing to produce phones on thin margins it's not actually very difficult to put out cheap high end devices.

All of this said... the OnePlus is still a great value phone. It's basically everything the Pixel should be in my opinion. Ridiculous specs for the price you pay on a phone with stock Android, and because you pay less than a flagship you sacrifice flagship features e.g. no 4K curved display up here.

But 8GB RAM and 128GB storage on a £500 smartphone is still bloody impressive especially when it's easily rooted and has no bloatware. If you're into Android right now I don't see much reason to buy anything else unless you either really like curved screens or are extremely brand loyal to Samsung.

I had no clue about the connection with Oppo. That's actually good news. I can see the chance of future One Plus devices implementing Oppo's 5x Dual Camera Zoom(periscope-style design). Especially since the camera portion of phones have become very competitive.

That video is a joke... A company praises it's own product? Well, I'm shocked...

I have purchased OP3t, and now own OP5. And as long as OP continues to build phones like they do today, I will purchase their products. Even if it costs as much as Samsun S/Note series. Why? Well, because for me, OP5 is way better then any other android device out there.

And Oxygen OS is the best custom Android build out there. Simple, pure android, with some really brilliant small customizations that make sense. They don't try to throw in 1000 sensors and similar things into their device, but what they do put in, people tend to use.

But this is just my subjective opinion, and of course, someone else may have completely opposite opinion to mine.

No they did not copy the iPhone actually...

In the hand it looks and feels nothing like the 7 Plus..

This video is tripe anyway, it's the fastest Android you can buy right now bar none and costs half that of the Note 8... yeah I'd be patting myself on the back for that too.
The guy in the video very obviously had never seen a One Plus 5 let alone used one before ranting on about it. I'm guessing a hipster after those clicks.

The One Plus 5 is not all hype and the reviews of it from reliable sources are very accurate.
