being that the metal Ali is only 64-bit, is the boost only for 64-bit platforms?
this isn't new to iOS 9. they added it in iOS 8.

are you talking about Metal for Mac?
But Metal is not for non-64 bit devices, so how would they get a performance boost?
I'm talking about non-64 bit devices...would those get a performance boost?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_(Apple_API)
"Since June 8, 2015, Metal is available for devices using the Apple A7, Apple A8, and Apple A8X"
it says A7, A8, and A8X. all those are 64 bitI'm talking about non-64 bit devices...would those get a performance boost?
You understood my question. Thank you.Yes, the website states that metal is responsible for the performance improvements. But that doesn't mean that 32-bit devices won't see any improvements. They'll probably run a bit smoother and have less bugs, but not run faster.
P.S: A5, A5X, A6, and A6X devices are still supported and only 32-bit.it says A7, A8, and A8X. all those are 64 bit
it says A7, A8, and A8X. all those are 64 bit
yep, but Metal is for A7, A8, and A8XP.S: A5, A5X, A6, and A6X devices are still supported and only 32-bit.
(Gives thumbs up)That's not what he's saying.
We all know that the A7, A8, and A8X can get performance boosts thanks to Metal, which was something they heavily advertised. What about the iPhone 5/5C/4S and iPad 2/3/4/Mini, which don't have 64-bit support? He's asking how those models see performance increases, since they can't use Metal.
Right...so the question is, for those devices that don't support Metal, but are supported by iOS 9, are there still visual performance improvements, and if so, where are they coming from (since they aren't coming from Metal).yep, but Metal is for A7, A8, and A8X
i'm sure other optimizations they've made, as to what exactly i don't know. Metal isn't the only thing that will improve that.Right...so the question is, for those devices that don't support Metal, but are supported by iOS 9, are there still visual performance improvements, and if so, where are they coming from (since they aren't coming from Metal).
beta 1 always seems to be a POS lolI really hope they get the performance fixes right, it doesn’t seem any faster on my iPhone 5. Hopefully, I'll see them in beta 2.
I hope they do!They will never fix the non-60 fps keyboard rotation animation in iOS will they………..
Is that why they are specifically not even dropping any devices with this upgrade?Guys
Stop thinking there will be major performance updates in iOS 9
Apple is mainly focusing on newer devices as usual
Can't expect your 3 years old device to run faster and to get new features
Is that why they are specially not even dropping any devices with this upgrade?
