Hi am from India and we havent got the 3GS yet here, too frustrating:mad: But I have come to UK for a trip and 3GS is locked to O2 here. If u guys jailbreak/unlock it u can always restore and go back to AT&T if there is a problem. But for guys like me if we buy the iphone in a foreign country and then go back, is there a possible risk n the future where u can never jailbreak/unlock it or miss crucial update like lets say OS4.0:confused:

Whats ur gut feeling folks:confused: Need ur advice? Should i buy the iphone 3GS in UK or wait another few months to launch in India?

You can always upgrade to OS 4.0 no matter where you bought your iPhone from. You will just need to unlock and JB afterwards. I'm not sure if you will still have the warranty from Apple if you bought the phone somewhere else rather than India.

Permanent unlock/jbreaking is not possible.
Every time you upgrade your OS you lose the unlock and jailbreak.
You can try purchasing a factory unlocked iphone that will work with any simcard and will stay forever unlocked or, buy a locked iphone and jailbreak and unlock it. And if theres a newer update you have to wait for a jailbreak to be released.
Or wait a few months and get one in india with the official carrier there and you have nothing to worry about.
Your choice.
