Ok. I bought from my brother Iphone X. Now it was his son (my nephew's), but they had some financial issues so they we're selling the device so i bought it. My question is the phone was given to me after factory reset (White Welcome screen). Now as privious android user i dont know exactly how this Find my phone or Activation lock works, and i dont really trust the boy. He told me he signed out from his icloud and factory reseted the device (erase everything). Is it possible somehow the device sill to be linked to his apple id? I've set up the phone and started using it already. From what i read, the moment he signs out from icloud the iphone is no longer linked to his apple id. And since it came from the white screen i've set it up as new device (new iphone). Can he somehow remotely access my device, or do something maliscious, like lock it from distance or so on? Please respond :)

If you set up the phone and you are already using it then it's not activation locked. Have you signed in with your own Apple ID?

Yes i am using it and i signed to App store with my apple id. I was there when the kid restored the phone. Once he tapped erase everything it asked him for his icloud password to sign out, he tapped it and the phone started loading the apple logo then white welcome screen showed up saying HELLO on different lanuages. I brought it home and the next they i've set it up as new iphone and i signed with my apple id. I dont use find my iphone on my apple id because i dont want to. So if i get it right once the phone was factory reseted (i saw it with my own eyes) and i've set it up there should be no way he can do something remotely? They also gave me the warranty and the original box of the device.

He can’t do anything remotely. You’re fine. Just enjoy the phone

Yup, once he “Erase all content and settings” it will sign him out of his iCloud on the device and factory reset the device recommended when being sold or given to someone else. Warranty is tied to the IMEI number of the device but Apple don’t require to show proof of purchase for servicing.

The other posters have it right on the money.
The only thing I can add is that since you were able to successfully log into the device during set up, using your credentials, this proves even further that it's no longer associated with the previous owner's apple ID.
