Just read that Apple kept the limit on ProRes (1080/30 only) for the 128GB model of the 14 Pro. I just pre-pre-orderd a 128GB model because that's about all the storage I ever use on my 11 Pro. For those of you using the 13 Pro has the option to shoot 4K ProRes been worth upgrading to 256GB? I have professional cameras that can shoot 4-6K ProRes if I want so I can only imagine some random, future run-n-gun scenario where I would need 4K ProRes on my phone. I mostly just shoot personal videos, cats, concerts, food porn, etc. etc. and I really don't need ProRes for that (or even 4K). Has anyone used their iPhone professionally on a shoot using ProRes? Like maybe as a B Cam for an interview? I'm just trying to decide if the feature is worth paying for the extra storage that I may rarely use.

For me it was not. I never used it once. I just bought into the hype and spent more.

i got a 256gb 13 PM for that reason (pro res) and what I thought at the time an increase trade in value but I just seen today while setting up a pre order trade-in, the capacity doesn’t even matter when it comes to trade value 😂.

I also never used it like I thought I would have. Maybe with the larger sensor it would be cool but who knows.

I feel like if you have to ask this question, it’s not worth it for you. Are you really going to use up tons of storage just to have raw footage that will require editing every time just to look as good as the default Apple video recording mode?

Debating 128 vs 256. I never take 4K video. Seems overkill for sharing to Facebook. Use google photos for my cloud storage. Currently using 60 out of 128 on my 13…

Definitely overkill for what you're doing. I have a 256 11 Pro and I've just barely gone over 150GB; most of that was podcast episodes and Apple Photos.

If I did shoot 4K ProRes it would be with an eye towards editing it outside of the phone. But yeah, I have to say that necessity has yet to materialize for me.
