I have recently completed graduate school and before my education discount expires at the end of the month, have noticed I am able to purchase a spanking new (end of line no doubt!) MBA 1.6GHz 2GB/120GB HDD for 1099.99 USD (I am assuming it is a rev c for the moment, but will check if I pursue this purchase). When I started grad school 2 years ago I switched from windows to a Macbook Pro 15' and have been unbelievably happy with the machine. Nonetheless, it is a little hefty and I have found my needs are less and less technical and focus more on email/browsing and excel work. I used an MBA for a few days recently, and it seems a great fit for my more mobile needs. I have some money for this purchase and anticipate that I will not buy a new machine for another 2 years if I get this one. The 1.86GHz is an extra 300 USD, with the edu discount, which is beyond what I am prepared to pay. So my choice is to go for the 1.6GHz now, or wait a few months (likely 6!) at which point I will be a little more flexible on price/config. The 1.6GHz seems a good deal to me - any insights?

Low end Rev B. I would go for the 1.86Ghz SSD or wait your 6 months and wait for 4g Ram and SSD version.

I have the 1.6 HDD, the machine you are talking about and it is great!
Yes the ssd would be even better, but don't doubt the beauty/power and usability of the lower end model! They are after all essentially the same, minus the ssd and .26 ghz.
If you get it for a price thats good for you thats even better. Just make sure its the 120GB Revision B!
