I want to jailbrake my 3g running firmware 2.1 but before I put in effort I would like to know if getting the custom firmware onto the phone is working I tried to do it while running the last firmware but it didn't work after trying every way to fix it so my question is has jailbroken 2.1 software been installing on the 3g well or should I not bother?

Obviously you are an avid reader of this forum and searched endlessly for an answer before asking your question. It is of course ... "Yes" ... and so far using QuickPwn 17 times (what can I say I'm kind to my friends) I have not had one problem.

Yes it's extremly reliable, I've jailbroken 4 iPhone's on 2.1 (3G) this week alone.

HOWEVER, a valid point to make is this... whilst Jailbreaking is cool, the apps you then might load from Cydia can serious cause phone crashes.

in the past 24 hours, whilst testing and reviewing new apps, I had to restore my iPhone 3 times, which is not the jailbreaking, but the apps I was installing.

My Advice: dont go installing apps like crazy, google them, and check they are good to go before you install them...
