So, for the past few iPhones I've owned (6s, 6, 5s) one of the first things I would do is turn on "Reduce Motion" because I felt like it would make the phone faster.

Now on my 7 Plus, turning on Reduce Motion actually seems like the non-animations are going slower than the actual animations.

Does anyone also see this or is it just me?

Also: I remember the regular effects in iOS 7 making people motion sick. Can someone remind me what they've done since then to make it less jarring?

There are likely still those who get motion sick (or something else of those lines) at this point, which is primarily why the reduce motion accessibility option is still present.

Before, the fade and the zooming animations were the exact same speed. The fade was just perceived as faster because it didn't have that really slow deceleration seen with the zoom.

However in iOS 10 the new zoom animation has been significantly sped up, but the fade has not. So. Yes. The regular animations are faster.

I think it's just you. Reduce motion still feels much quicker to me than animations.

I figured out exactly this yesterday, when I went to a shop to test out an iPhone 7 Plus. I have the 6s Plus with Reduce Motion on. Probably, I didn't expect to see a dramatic difference, but boy, was I surprised when I started using it!
It seemed to me twice as fast compared to my 6s Plus. I was puzzled, as I've read in forums that it's not significantly faster.

Later on, when I was at home, I thought ok, if the 7 Plus is so faster even with the animations on, what will happen if I turn them on on my 6s Plus? Of course, I thought that the difference would be even bigger, but when I tested it to find out, *boom* my 6s Plus got as bloody fast as the 7 Plus at the store was.

To be honest though, it does make me dizzy and it's kinda difficult to use the multitasking mode, because it's just too fast!
So, I have turned the Reduce Motion on again, but I might decide to go with it off for a while, just in case I get used to it.

After using "reduce motion" for years since the beginning of iOS 7, I just switched back to try things without it in iOS 10 and while I'm not a fan of all the movement and zooming, as far as the speed and "snappiness" go, things do seem to be better.

I really hope the "reduce motion" version of fading would also get tuned up at some point, but for now it looks like I might give animations more of a chance to see how my everyday use goes with them.
