For some reason this week the 'other' space on my phone has shot up to 4gb. When you only have a 16gb phone with 5gb free this is an issue.

I've run iCleaner. Deleted all my messages. I don't keep emails and regularly delete the trash email folder contents.

My apps are taking up 3gb ish. Music and photos just over 1.2gb. A few 200mb games etc. And the 'other' is taking up 4gb.

I can't think of anything else to delete.

Have I missed anything? Or is a restore the only way to sort it? Which obviously I don't want to do because I'll lose my jailbreak.

I could use ilexrat or semi restore but would have to then restore from a backup. I imagine restoring from a previous backup would just put back the 4gb 'other'. I don't have the option of setting up as new even if I did restore as I have a text message I can't lose and there's no way to just restore sms messages.

I recently had this problem, and found that by removing a ton of apps I wasn't using, then doing "Reset All Settings" (NOT Erase all content and settings!) removed most of the Other stuff.

Thanks. Have ready deleted the apps I wasn't using. Will try reset all settings.

on the summary page in iTunes there is checkbox called sync with this iPhone automatically when it connects. If you uncheck this, apply & sync. Then turn it back on and apply & sync, sometimes this will force iTunes to re-evaulate the space on your phone again.

Also, have you looked on the phone itself at settings -> general -> usage -> manage storage? It gives a much more detailed breakdown of what apps are using.

Yeah I did that last night. Automatically sync wasn't ticked.

I checked storage and the three biggest are music at 600mb. Photos at 439mb and videos at 243mb. There's no app taking up masses of space etc.

Edit. Just used ifunbox to search for large files and GameGem which I installed for all of two minutes a few days ago had left a random file that was 1.2gb. So deleted that and I'm now back up to 5gb free.
