Is Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 for Mac the best graphics card available for MP5,1 ?

Is the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 for Mac the best graphics card available for the MP5,1 ? This card was first introduced a little over a year ago and I wonder if a newer model has surfaced or will be soon or maybe another brand with improved performance over the 7950.

I ask as I'm about to plonk down some brass for the 7950 in the immediate future. Thanks....

Any of the new Radeon's work as well with the exception of the 290 (I believe). I know the 270's and 280's work.

With that said, the 270's and 280's are really just tweaked/rebadged 7950's and 7970's.

GTX 680 Mac Edition is faster than the 7950, if you're looking for an official Mac card. If you don't need a boot screen, then you can get a GTX 780 Ti or TITAN Black.

It really depends what you want to do with the card, work or play?

Work, with OpenCL support? AMD.

Play, with the addition of CUDA support, Nvidia.

There will be widely divergent views of what card is "best"... in large part because it depends on what it is to be used for, and what constraints, if any, the buyer has.

Internal/stock power?

Boot screens?

Open CL performance important?

CUDA capability important?

All of these affect the answer...

The 7950 is a good card. It does not support CUDA. It will outperform all the comparibly priced Nvidea cards in OpenCL.

P.S. I've owned both the 7950 (overclocked and flashed) as well as the 680 (overclocked and flashed). I kept the 7950 because it was best for what I do. The 680 is a fine card too, and if I needed CUDA more than OpenCL I may have kept it instead...
