In iOS 11, has apple fixed the embarrassing issue when you activate search on an ipad, but the orientation is occasionally wrong? (See picture)

Amazes me that something so sloppy is still around after over a year. Shows how much attention and care Apple really paid to the ipad in the past...

Still happening to me. And I have a new 10.5 iPad. So it’s not like I have an older device. Actually a lot of bugs like this still haven’t been fixed yet.

Also if you unlock iPad in portrait orientation it will not change to landscape orientation unless you make a very deliberate rotate to portrait and then back to landscape.

Heartbreaking and shocking.

It's hard to take Tim and Apple seriously when they say the iPad is the best expression of the future of computing and they ship shoddy software which also is missing tons of features. Hopefully they learned this year from the response to ios 11 and the increased ipad sales that it's the software that is holding the ipad back.

So annoyed they haven't fixed this. Wonder if anyone at apple actually uses the ipad as productivity device.

Doesn’t happen often, but I do have a rotate problem when I wake up the iPad 10.5 on iOS 11 sometimes. I don’t really understand either why they are having a hard time squishing the rotate bug that’s pretty common.

I know I had it pretty bad on my iPad Air on iOS 8, but was much better on iOS 10.

I am having some orientation problems with my 10.5” iPad Pro and DB10 It gets stuck and deliberate movement is needed to change orientation.

I haven't experienced this bug since I turned off touch id and passcode. Looks like this bug occurs when you rotate iPad while unlocking it. Not surprised at all that they haven't fixed it

Just tried replicating it on iPad Air 2 running the latest PB, all working fine. Tried rotating it any possible way and it worked as it should in any of the four possible positions. However, this might be more of a gyroscope issue, as if we rotate iPads when they are in a flat (horizontal) position, just lifting them up from a table or something, the gyroscope might fail to register a change. If you put it upright, however, things change.

Throughout the iOS 11 beta cycle some versions were better/worse for a regular screen rotation bug, when an iPad would get stuck in a landscape/portrait position. The latest beta seems ok, though.

It isn't. I have all kinds of rotation issues on my Air 2 and iOS 11. In fact, there's never been any iOS version on iPad that would be 100% devoid of this issue. And I have iPads since the original one in 2010.

I’m on the latest release and the iPad I use for dev use is still acting a bit squirly when it’s put into sleep mode in (for example) landscape and then woken up holding it in portrait. I need to turn it back to landscape, sleep and wake in landscape to fix it.
