Hi
I´m new to Apple.

I´m 25 years old and I´ve been wanting an Apple Computer since I was 10 and the answer I got from my mom was “they’re not compatible with other computers and yada yada…” so finally on Oct/30/05 I got my firs Mac, an iBook 12” just the plain normal one, I couldn’t afford a PB so I decided to buy what I could and do not complicate myself with something as fancy and complete as a PB for now, and just start from the bottom…

Reading and reading about Mactels here on MR and other sites, I realized that Steve must be a former (or on duty) CIA agent.

I mean NOBODY can hold information like Apple does, it is amazing on how much people are speculating about Mactels, (prices, costs, shipping dates, etc).

I started to believe that information inside Macintosh is way more than Classified… LOL

Any how for those speculators I´ll like to give my personal and modest opinion. I really think that some people are just nuts, and way over anxious about Mactels. Panicking for this issue is almost ridiculous; why I say so? Cause remember there are at least a couple hundred THOUSAND Mac users that have PPC processors.

Do you think Steve Jobs will make his whole empire useless by making this big change? I know what you guys will say; “the new mactels will be binary systems and will be compatible with actual ppc macs…” at least for a while until everything changes to intel…

And I believe that´s true and also belive that again panicking is an option that everybody has but I found it ridiculous because. I know that Steve is a very CLEVER man and that he won´t disappoint us (Apple users) at all… I mean it will be like killing the milky cow…

Any way I will enjoy my iBook at least until 2007 when I plan to buy a PB, not because of intel but because of saving money… LOL :p

Buying Stevo

In the Buying Tips forum? Are you wanting to buy Steve Jobs?

He's worth at least eight hundred BILLION dollars!

Hey, he's quite a handsome guy!

(I'll bypass the obvious statement about his Open Firmware.)

Anyway, his attractiveness may be offset by the fact that he's a "cleaver man". You'd really have to sleep with one eye open if you're with a cleaver man.

;)

Jokes aside, it's good to see someone who was an Apple fan at 10 and kept that going until he could buy one at 25! Welcome to the owners' club!

Any transition is tough. If you're not the paranoid type, you'll have to forgive those of us who are. It's sometimes nice to get "one fact at a time" to help to ease the pain of the transition. It helps you to know what to expect. I, for example, have a rather old Mac (Pismo Powerbook) and want to keep a good handle on the pros and cons of purchasing before or after the switch. For someone like you, who just purchased, the switch isn't such a big deal.

So, enjoy your new iBook!!! And try not to giggle too hard at those of us who are fretting over the switch. Just don't try to milk the cow anywhere near your iBook. The keys get sticky, and it's just a mess.

(Of course, milking Steve may have the same.... nevermind.) :)

I'm sure that Steve has enough money so that he doesn't have to cut his own meat. He can afford a professional butcher. But I suppose hacking away at a side of beef with a cleaver (that's what cleavers are for!) might be relaxing for him.

Excuse my spelling nazism...I'm just being "clever." :)

I'm NOT trying to buy SJ... LOL

Thanks, actually I waited 9 years to become a Mac User, since I bought mi Ipod Mini on Oct/27/04 a week or so after they were launched... and if you look to the first post I bought my iBook Oct/30/05 exactly a Year and 3 days after... LOL :p :D The plan is to get an Apple on a year basis or less.. :D

Sorry I did not meant to offend by saying paranoids... hehe is just that you Apple users should know better than me that SJ it a brilliant guy and that he won't dissapoint his followers...
By the way I think the same as you in what matters to pros and cons... I always aaaaalwaaays think through things before doing it, specially if ti involves a lot of money... And I did not know about mactels until a few weeks ago when I joined MR, so what I'm saying is that I bought my iBook thinking that it was the latest model (which actually is right now) and that it will last actualized for a respectable period of time (at least 2 years) which according to what I've been reading it will happen... ;)
So, enjoy your new iBook!!! And try not to giggle too hard at those of us who are fretting over the switch. Just don't try to milk the cow anywhere near your iBook. The keys get sticky, and it's just a mess.

Didn't they say there were 10 million users of OS X now?

10,000,000 > 100,000.

1- It did say CLEAVER... I corrected to CLEVER!:p

2- Since as you probably read I'm new to Mac so the HUNDRED THOUSAND number was just guessestimating... (spelling again)

3- My whole point of the CIA issue was that Steve can preserve a Secret as good or eaven better thatn the CIA.

4-
Not only do we have a new Mac User here, we have a new Mac Maniac.
Part of the CIA.....??? WTF.

5- umrdad... Mac is not a fraternity.. it is a UNIVERSAL Comunnity!!! LOL (I'm sure some martians use Apple as well):D
