Is that "right" that my new iMac i3 21.5" (Mid 2010) was built in June, 2010?

Hi, Just kinda curious (and a bit doubtful maybe) I know that the new iMac was announced around the end of July, 2010. So I felt iffy when I received my brand new iMac yesterday and saw the outer package box has a sticker with date 2010/06/16 on it. I went on to use coconut identity card to check when was it built and came back with 'between 06/19/2000 and 06/25/2000' - I guess the year should be 2010 though. But when also referred to the serial number seems it was built during the 25th week of the year (corroborating with the above timeline). Now it bothers me... coz' I ordered my MBP last Fall, and it was built right before the week when I placed my order, and it was shipped directly from China as majority of people have experienced. But as for this iMac that I just received, the time line seems doubtful for me. Just not sure whether this iMac is a "Brand-new" product or what. Anyway, could anyone give me some clue about it?

P.S. My iMac was ordered from Apple online store on Sep. 07, 2010. And it was shipping from Jonestown, PA.
 
It is likely that it was built then and just sat in a warehouse until you ordered it.
 
My MBP was built almost a year before I bought it so it's not really anything to worry about, Apple starts production on their Macs quite a while before they're actually announced, as does EVERY other PC manufacturer... Your machine is definitely brand new, Apple is a huge multibillion dollar corporation, not a dodgy corner shop computer vendor, they wouldn't be stupid enough to be doing something as fraudulent as misrepresenting goods.

Although they did say the iPhone 4 could make calls :p

Well it's telling you when it was built so that's when it was built. So my questions is what difference what week and month it was built in make? If the machine is operating as it should then it doesn't really matter if it was made last week or January 1st 2010! :) Probably all it means is you bought a machine that was in inventory for awhile. Why was it in inventory is anyones guess, mine is that the configuration you got Apple thought would be a hotter seller than it actually is so they over produced them and are now selling through.
 
Thanks for the reply! My iMac works okay so far, except that there're a few tiny dots in the lower right corner of the screen (one of them looks like hairy dust underlying the screen) which I can tolerate it. I did the screen test posted as other thread in this forum and found that there's yellow tint problem! The yellowish is quite significant especially in the lower left part of the screen. I thought this problem mainly exists in last year's 27-inch iMac and should have been fixed for this year's new product! Not sure whether I should request a replacement or not, since from what I read from other posts the replacement is not guaranteed to get a "better" one back. I'll read some more threads to see what I should do. Any advice is appreciated though. Thanks again.
 
Sounds like you may have got one of my 3 returned 21.5" models. (I should have made a note of the serial numbers and posted them). As far as the dust goes, pop the glass off and wipe it out. Easy as pie to do.
