I know aluminum is non-magnetic, and I assume that means that the new remotes won't stick to the side of the machine as the old plastic ones used to. For people with the new imacs who have the new remote, is that true?

Also, as a corollary, is a remote really necessary if you have the bluetooth keyboard? My 2005 G5 iMac has a remote, but I rarely use it outside of watching DVD's. As the keyboard has media controls already assigned to the F keys, is it possible to just keep it on the coffee table?

Thanks for the reply, Badge. I know it's an extra 19 dollars, but I was running under the line of thought that it would come in handy, especially with such a big screen (which will likely allow more sofa viewing). There's a general feeling that 20 dollars (which I would normally be loth to spend on any remote) is just a drop in the bucket when you consider the overall cost of the machine. Still, maybe it'd be better to sink the cash into a USB hub, which I'll definitely get more everyday use from...
