So up until recently I've felt that all of the iPads have been targeted somewhat the same towards everyone. Even when the first iPad Pro was revealed, it was targeted towards more power users.

But this one seems definitely aimed at the creative/artist demographic. Like, the price is too high for an average joe to consider as their replacement computer. Even the reviews now seem to be saying....yeah this might be too much iPad for you if you aren't an artist, etc.

For me, it's definitely something I want...but it doesn't really fit into any of my need slots. If I did art for a living, I'd get it. But I do programming and some photography and feel that I'm not exactly in the venn diagram Apple made (though I think in the future it will be fun for editing photos).

This is why Apple created the iPad line (vs iPad Pro). The $329 iPad is an amazing value for most peoples needs.

Everything Apple has announced this year has included a 20-25% price increase. With Apple eliminating it's pretty obvious Apple is planning on unit counts decreasing so they are increasing per unit profitability.

The articles I've read have started wondering if the continual price increases will keep newcomers from joining Apple's platform. Guess we'll all see how the next year turns out for Apple sales-wise. Maybe if enough people balk, the pricing can come down again. It's only going up because Apple can't figure out a new thing to replace the iPhone's sales and revenue in their lineup.

Yeah, what I need is a Mac but what I want is an iPad Pro. Fortunately I'm in a position where I can afford both and each has strengths and weaknesses. The Mac is great for working on larger projects with multiple parts that can be fairly complex but make me money. The iPad is great for relaxing work, working on creative passion projects, organizing/planning, and being entertained by videos, the interwebs, and games. I prefer to be kicked back on my couch using an iPad, but I'm faster at my desk for a lot of tasks using the Mac.

The dream is for it to be more seamless. IDK if the iPad will ever be as good as a Mac for getting a lot of work done, but Apple can certainly do a lot to smooth the rough edges. It would be great to have a project on my Mac, open parts of it on my iPad to edit things when inspiration strikes or if I'm watching my kids or something and want to do some light work or planning, and then have that seamlessly added to what I'm working on when I get back to my Mac. It needs to work quickly and without compatibility issues. There needs to be more professional apps on the iPad and I think that is in progress.

I can absolutely do everything on my Mac that I can do on an iPad, but I don't want to. Working on the iPad is more fun and feels less like actual work. But it can also be frustrating at times because I can't do everything on an iPad that I can do on a Mac. I don't know if it will ever be possible for there to be the one device. Perhaps AR in the distant future that can throw up an 8K display of any size on any surface with fully adaptable UI? But even that is going to need a whole lot of work to go mainstream—it will have ridiculous speed, power usage, style, and miniaturization requirements.

I think the iPad Pro has always targeted a specific group. But the price definitely doesn't help.

I know the struggle.. i like to buy the best and newest stuff, but for what i use it for (mainly surfing the web and youtube every other week) it's just overkill and expensive. and i actually like the size of the iPad Mini...

i really love the new design and i'm an impulsive buyer, so i might still buy it with a good blackfriday deal, lol

I agree however the Pro does little more than the cheaper IPad. It’s not a laptop replacement and doesn’t justify the price just for Face ID
