Is the 9400m really that bad?

Hey,

Basically I am need of a new computer, my Windows is performing horrible and it's getting old. So I am pretty set on an iMac but want to not spend too much money at the same time.

95% of my usage comprises of Facebook, MS Office, YouTube, Picnik, Spotify and I might try playing CoD on it (I'm a HUGE PS3 gamer, but would be cool to be able to play it in the evening on my computer as well!).

As a 16 year old, money is pretty hard to come by. I can get a good condition late 2009 C2D 21.5" 9400m iMac for £800. Is it worth getting this or saving up more money and buying the latest i3 one? I prefer to spend my money on iPhones and iPads etc, just need a good computer to use in the evening and as a base station.

That's terrible deal as you can get the same iMac from refurb store for 749£. Offer 600£ for that, no more. I would get the new 999£ iMac as it has the same GPU as previous gen high-end 21.5" and is definitely worth the extra if you want to play CoD

I agree with HellHammer. That deal sucks. I'd either offer him £200 less or so. Or get the refurb. Or get the current low end.

The 256 MB 4670 Radeon GPU in the base new iMac is far superior to ANY integrated graphics solution including the 9400m. Take it from me; I've spent a long time looking at benchmarks.

If your 16 i assume your still in education.
This means you can get student discounts.

Yeah I will be a student until I am about 20 (sixth form and university) so I guess I am eligible for that! And a free iPod touch, woohoo

The base imac cost me £878 with student discount + the free ipod + £70 off a printer.

This makes it a much better deal than that 2nd hand one.

Yeah I've already got a decent printer so didn't need that, just ordered the base 21.5" i3 with 8gb iPod touch (won't ever take out of box, need to sell before new one comes out) with the iPod rebate, worked out a bit of a bargain
