To AirPlay

I watched Spartacus 720p with the air video app via AirPlay to ATV3
The quality was ok i guess, i was on my iPhone 4

Is there a better app than "air video" for better picture quality

Normally i would have just used my wd tv live , but im waiting for a 5 port HDMI switch , and was too lazy to hook up the wd live player now

If you dont have air video , os a must have with your ATV

EDIT:

let me make it more clear

Air video is an iphone app that lets you stream videos from your pc, videos like mkv ,it does live conversion so basically u can watch your mkvs without any convert wait time, air video also supports airplay

I'm taking it you got the movie from iTunes? so if it's on your computer you can just use that to stream it or Apple will have that movie in the cloud. You can check out Plex, I haven't tried it but everyone loves it.

It sounds like the OP did not get the movie on iTunes but instead ripped it.

I've used AirVideo since getting my original iPad. It was a deal then and it's more than paid for itself over that time. That said, a lot of the issue with quality is more to do with how fast your computer can process the encode in real time, and your networks ability to deliver the resulting video.

AirVideo and my 2008 iMac (Dual Core, 2GB RAM) do a fine job with 480p rips. Never once had a problem. 720p is hit or miss, and 1080p forget about it - I'm better off encoding with Handbrake.
