Is the Apple pencil necessary?

Hi guys.So I absolutely love taking down my notes on a notebook with pens and highlighters. And I don't think I can give that up. I plan on buying the iPad2018 basically for reading and studying.So I just wanted to know if its necessary that I buy the apple pencil

It’s _not_technically necessary, its an accessory if you find it useful for your situation. If you’re a note taker or sketcher, then I think it would be beneficial. But being that you said you appreciate taking handwritten notes, and if you don’t use it for any type of sketching, then I don’t think the Apple Pencil would be necessary in your situation.
