Does it seem like the bottom cover is thin and cheap compared to past models? It feels a lot more fragile than compared to before -shrugs-

*shrug* Haven't noticed any difference in that on my M1 MBP vs my early 2020 MBA or 2018 MBP15.

What are you comparing against?

How have you established that is cheaper and thinner? Did you take it apart/measure/dented/bent it and done the same with the previous unibody pro or air?
I’m curious
That’s why I said it seems and I’m asking if it is in fact cheaper and thinner. Trying to establish if it truly is. Not sure but I’d like to know. It’s been a little while since owning a MacBook Pro and the bottom feels a lot more fragile than I remember, almost like it’ll dent if you look at it the wrong way. Could just be my imagination who knows

Aluminium 'fragile'? That would imply that yours (the bottom cover) is in some way breaking or deforming.
When I think aluminum, I’m thinking pop cans. It’s easy to forget these are much stronger than that. It’s not deforming or breaking but it definitely seems on the thin side form pictures I’ve seen of the bottom being taken off the laptops

Yes, but your original post said "It feels a lot more fragile than compared to before". So if you have one at hand, why are you asking other people? You could remove it and judge it for yourself.

The likely reason it would feel this way - if at all - is because the internal component layout is different.

Just grabbed my 2020 M1 MBP and my 2017 MBP, both 13", for comparison and can't say I've noticed even the slightest difference at all. The feel the same and sound the same when given a good knock.

I think the aluminium on the latest air has a more dense pattern (is that a thing?) compared to older gen (2008-2017), like more uniform but I might be stating BS starting from the fact that the space gray color might have this visual effect. So maybe scratches they will be more evident? For sake of science the thickness of the bottom plate of a unibody 15 pre retina is ~0.97mm while a 15 retina is ~0.89mm. If some brave soul wants to take already apart an m1 and measure the thickness be my guest
