Hello,

Does the date still show in the widgets screen when accessed from the home screen on iPad?

The reason I ask is because the date use to show in the widgets screen when accessed from the home screen and from the notification / lock screen as well. Now it only shows in the NC / lock screen widgets.

The date disappeared after triggering a bug which I reported at the beginning of the beta. However since about PB2 the date has been permanently missing and I’m not sure if it is still due to this bug or that it has been removed.

Please note that I’m only referring to the widgets screen accessed by swiping left to right on the home screen.

Thanks

(iPad Pro 9.7”)

In earlier betas mine was hit or miss, too. In the most recent public beta the date is not there.

I’m using an iPad mini 2.

It is not showing on iPad Air 2 in PB5, but I am thinking they might have taken it out on purpose to leave more space for widgets, news, etc., as that day/date bit used to take a big chunk of the screen.

That makes sense and is a probable explanation. However they could have placed the time up the top (menu bar?) as shown in screenshot 1 and left the day/date which takes up very little space.

Oh well, no big deal. It is good to know it isn’t just me.

Thanks :)

not a big fan of the removal. you see the date when you swipe from the lock screen/cover sheet but not when you swipe from the home screen.. kind of inconsistent.

The time is still there at the top for me, see the screen grab attached.

Sorry I worded that badly. Yes the time is shown up the top for me also. I meant they could have left the day / date which doesn’t take up much space (assuming it was removed due to space).

I guess that with the new dock some people might put their calendars there (I did), so the date is almost always in one’s face. Also, we can still quickly push the sleep/wake button to see the time, day & date. They were just optimising the widget space area, I think.

pulling down the lock screen is better than sleep/wake as you don't have to unlock again

It shows when you swipe to see widgets from the lock screen. It doesn't when you swipe from an unlocked phone home screen.
