Is the high-end MBP worth $500 more?

Mostly in terms of Photoshop CS3 speeds, do the faster processor and and doubled SDRAM merit 500 extra dollars from my wallet?

Photoshop doesn't use the graphics card, and even if it did, the $500 is a huge rip off.

I have had both models, i do think , its a bit faster...but i was given it...so i did not pay the extra 500.00

If $500 is nothing to you, then go ahead and get it.

If you plan on running bootcamp and playing games on it, you'll want the extra graphics memory, or if you plan on driving a 30" LCD as an extended display you'll need it.

the extra 200mhz isn't noticeable to make a difference. You'll get a better return by saving the $500, selling your MBP in 2 years, and applying the 500$ + sales money for a new MBP.

Short answer: No.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree. A $500 premium for 128MB and .2 GHz is a bit much. I have a 2.2 and PS CS3, FCP and Cinema 4D runs fine. Heck, it even does an admirable job on a friends 30" ACD.

1900 x 1200 display is pretty special and high-end MBP only AFAIK.

Yeah, the extra $500 simply isn't worth it. They had a barefeats test that showed the bump in video card was not even noticeable in gaming, and the cpu difference isn't really that noticeable either. Sure, you might get like 7 seconds faster on some huge RAW render, but it's doesn't seem worth it at all.
