wondering if i'll notice the difference between the quad core i5 and the i7
when doing photoshop work and graphic design. i do handle some fairly large layered files and do some imovie stuff.

i think it's about $200 more for the i7? is the main difference simple speed? if so will it be noticeable?

thanks for your thoughts

The i7 has a faster boost clock rate than the i5 as well as hyper-threading for double the number of virtual cores.

If you will replace the machine every year or two then the i7 might not be worth it as there might not be as much software available that takes advantage of it.

If you will keep your Mac longer than the i7 is relatively cheap way to future proof the computer, especially as more and more software is developed to leverage HT architecture.
