Is the iMac 27" screen the only IPS to yellow?

Hi,

I've read a few threads on here as well as some of the links those threads point to. Unless I missed something, the reason for the yellow is: the yellowing of the display is a manufacturing defect involving the distance between a layer of material used to diffuse the LED backlight and the LCD panel.

I haven't heard of any other credible reason, have you?

My question is, if this is the reason for the yellow, then why is the Apple (LG/Phillips) the only one we hear about yellowing? Is this a weakness in all IPS screens or just a design flaw to this particular screen design? What other screens have the same or similar design? And why hasn't Apple or LG/Phillips come out and said "we have an issue, this is what the issue is, and this is how we are going to fix it"?

Anyway, I am wanting to buy a 27" iMac, but don't want to deal with this type of issue. I feel sorry for all the folks that have gone thru 3 and 4 replacements and Apple and company don't even acknowledge this to be an issue, what the heck is happening to Apple?

IPS panels are known to have quality issues. This isn't the first case and won't be the last case.

IPS screens are known for there excellent colour reproduction and viewing angles. They are superior to TN panels. But then again my companion Samsung 920n screen that I use with my 20" iMac (gradient problem) has a TN panel and has excellent colour consistency...

And don't buy in the "defence force" argument that colour consistency is something you find only in professional grade monitors. Features that make a screen professional grade is from a whole different order... .

a) because a lot users don't notice that they have an inferior screen.
b) they have rabid followers that makes it very hard for a group of normal consumers to speak/complain with one voice.
c) because they can get away with it
