Simple question, is the iPad covered internationally under it's warranty? I travel a lot and one of my qualms with the iPhone is that if it breaks when I am in another country they will do nothing for me.

I want to purchase an iPad in Thailand and these are all imported from somewhere else. So if the warranty isn't international it basically means I have no warranty at all.

yes, iPad warranty is global.

"If you seek service in a country that is not the country of original purchase,
you will comply with all applicable import and export laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where international service is available, Apple may repair or exchange defective products and parts with comparable products and parts that comply with local standards."

Hope that helps. You can check out the warranty for iPads online.

It's like all portable Macs. The iPhone is carrier-specific, so it's impossible for someone to cover all bases regardless of location, ergo, service is location-specific. The iPad 3G is the same everywhere, only the microsims are different.

Wouldn't it be better to call Apple directly and know from the source as oppose to an anonymous group of strangers?

Well, I had the same concern, so I called Apple to check, because I wanted to visit my friends in Singapore for a while.

They confirmed over the phone and in an email that the iPad was covered internationally.

Not to mention, the warranty on the iPad says that it is covered, but you must comply with international laws/taxes.

It might be free under warranty within your own country, but their might be some import/export taxes and what not in others, that's all. Doubt it'd be anything too significant though.

That would possibly be the best option. However my iPhone is broken and not covered under warranty in the country I am in so they won't touch it. So I don't have a phone to use which is sort of what brought up this question. If you have any other questions for my regarding why I asked here I am happy to give you more information about it.

I also know enough about these forums to be able to understand if the replies are sincere or not. People here seem happy enough to answer. Thank you for the replies
