Now that we've gotten our hands on the iPad Wifi, other than the fact that the screen is larger, how is the iPad Wifi version NOT just a bigger iPad?

I'm sure a lot of apps that have come out for the iPad will aslo do so for the iPhone/iPod.

Not hating, seriously tho?

Much faster A4 chip for one. The 3g version is not even available in a touch for another which is why that is the version really to get plus you will get true GPS which the touch does not have. The user experience to is much better with the better screen. OS 3.2 which is not available on the touch and later 4.0 for free. It is not clear if 4.0 will even be available for the Touch but it wont be free.
That's plenty right there. But yea if you have an ipod touch then you should wait for the 3g iPad and the final advantage is:
SIZE MATTERS! Do you want a big one or a little one. Your choice.

The only difference is the bigger screen and faster chip, which let's you do more. It's a better experience, but If you have an iPod, I wouldn't upgrade to an iPad unless 4.0 really separates it from the touch/iPhone. It's nice acing the bigger screen, and the device is awesome to use, but it basically an expensive internet viewer with some sweet apps to create some stuff. Getting stuff on there though is not simple at all.

I wouldn't say you dont get it either. Truth is, apple didn't do enough to seperate it from the touch. They just did it on a bigger scale. There is no way 16 gb is enough to use it for movies and music and pictures and other apps, which is what its use is for, so your definitely looking at a $600 investment at least. I spent $900 for a 64, case, and Bluetooth keyboard. If 4.0 doesn't significantly improve the os, I might take it back.

Whatever, if you ask this stuff you don't have the money to spend on one.. After using one i can't see myself going back to that small pathetic screen.

Consider it a family. The Ipad is the big brother of the fraternal twins Iphone and Ipod Touch. It's more grown up and mature, but there are many similarities. I don't think it's an insult necessarily to say it's a "big Ipod Touch." It's a limited view, but it says what it isn't: it's not your big, boring desktop computer. It's something FUN to use.

The Ipad is your simple computer. The Iphone and Touch are pocket devices. Each takes advantage of those traits - screen real estate is used as best as it can be. I found on the Ipad almost immediately that there was no need for the specialized apps many websites created, like Facebook, Mint.com, Amazon, etc. Where those sites felt extremely limited on the Iphone, they excel on the Ipad. On the other hand, I downloaded RemovEm 2 for the Ipad and couldn't see much use for it. I love playing it on my Iphone, but on the Ipad, it kind of felt ridiculous. The Ipad is going to be my portable, "light" computer for around the house, and the Iphone will remain my option for games, etc. and my on-the-go device.

If it was exactly like an iPod touch but bigger I would have still bought it. Some of my favorite apps are much better on the big screen.

Nonetheless it has much more.

Does a bear **** in the woods?
Another person who doesn't get it.

Actually - to describe it as a big iPod touch, in my opinion isn't too far off. The problem comes with defense mechanism and/or believing that using that phrase is "bad"

It's not.

Love my touch. Love my iPhone. And have watched movies, viewed PDFs and surfed the web, etc on both devices when traveling and love it. But the iPad offers the bigger real estate. And with that comes a much better/more fun/enjoyable experience.

And yes - there's clearly a lot more APP wise you can do with more real estate. So there are things you'll get to do on an iPad you could never really do (well you could but it would be painful) on the touch/iPhone.

So it's all semantics really. Who cares whether it's a big iPod touch or not. It is what it is. And it does what it does. If you like what it does - get one. If you can't figure out how it will work in your life, then don't.

I wasn't going to buy one. Look at my post history. But then I realized that even if all I do is just watch movies and surf with it - then it's worth the 500 for a great screen/experience.

Of the masses, and with the current OS/limitations - a lot of people might not be able to ditch one or more of their other technologies and use the iPad exclusively. And if that was the goal for some, they will be disappointed and/or frustrated.

Those that came in with low expectations or have a low use case that will only increase with the technology as it develops will really enjoy it.
