At the time of writing there were only 1st and 2nd gen iPad Pro 11 models available through Apple's Refurbished store (A12X and A12Z).
Has Apple not yet started selling the current M1 gen introduced in mid 2021 through the Refurbished store?

Not yet. I've noticed for iPads and iPhones, they usually don't sell the latest gen models as refurbs so don't expect to see them until after the next iPad Pros are released.

Note, retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Costco often have $50-150 discounts on iPad Pros. A good option if you can't wait for refurbs to hit the Apple Store.

Thank you. I will look into potential deals on Amazon and other retailers then.

It's now May 25, and STILL no refurnished M1 iPad Pros have ever appeared in the Apple refurbished listings - what's up with that? There were even M1 Pro MacBook Pros a few weeks ago...

Well, the MacBook Pro 14 hit the refurb store earlier THIS year.

I specifically mentioned iPads not Macs.

To me, it seems Apple purposely delays releasing iPads (and for that matter iPhones) on the refurb store until it’s no longer the latest model. Look at the 2020 iPad Air 4. It only hit the refurb store recently after the Air 5 was released.

Also spotted Amazon Renewed if you are looking for a discount OP. I got my M1 Pro from Apple anyway but it looks like roughly a further £50 saving, if you are willing to forgo the assurances of having bought it from Apple.

More info: Reseller coverage is only really tested if the model develops a defect, most work is covered by your limited warranty or an Apple Care Plus purchase plan. Be advised that many resellers could try and sell you their own warranty, but there are stories on this forum to show mixed success. From my experience, these alternative plans are not worth the printing involved.

For example the MacBook Pro screen coating that would peel off in places but leave a patchy screen. You could get this replaced free of charge, but had to go through your reseller due to the costs involved. As it was a full screen replacement, many resellers dug their way out of paying for the repairs.

That being said, the M1 Pro has no signicant defects reported. That is the beauty of looking to buy now, whilst close to the refresh and a newer model, you have a lot of users who can tell you how it is after a fair portion of the introductory phase of the product lifecycle. But we can't rule out something developing overtime, or perhaps becoming more common.

TL;DR - Look into how resellers handle defects and repairs, you should find good news on most and that could lead to a better bargain. Although, if the reviews are poor, maybe stick with Apple or a big name.
