My iPad Pro 12.9 2018 is used for gaming, watching movies/Netflix, and reading novels. I was thinking of getting the 2021 model for the higher brightness and HDR experience. Is it much better than the 2018 model in daily use?

All I would be upgrading for would be the display as I have no problems with the speed and RAM of the 2018 variant.

I’d say that in everyday use you will notice a dramatic improvement when watching HDR content, the screen is just stunning compared to 2020/2018 iPP. You will see also a better contrast ratio in everyday usage, but you will notice it further in darker rooms. The screen is also slightly brighter outside HDR, which is also welcomed.

So I’d say that it’s a decent screen upgrade, but outside HDR content it’s more of an evolution than a revolution

The M1 12.9 iPad Pro display is the first display where I consider watching content on next to my Samsung 4K TV.

Having also had the 2018 and now using the 2021, I'd agree with this response.

HDR looks incredible and I also notice that blacks are pure black the contrast is really apparent.

Wow you guys really were underselling this display. Just bought it and it’s a massive change. The blacks look like my oled TV and the colours are so much richer in a way I cant describe. The screen is just way more pleasing. Extremely satisfied here.
