I just ordered an 11 pro max to replace my 8 plus.

Purchased an iPad Air 3 a week ago and use it exclusively for entertainment purposes. Sure I could do work on it but handling any sort of typing is just easier on my 15" pro even with the smart keyboard and pencil. The 8 plus has a 5.5 inch screen which is significantly smaller than the iPad but I still find myself using it for Youtube / netflix around the house and in bed. The speakers are without a doubt better on the phone than on the iPad. The cumbersomeness of the iPad doesn't lend itself to me reaching for it regularly.

So now that the 11 pro max is about to arrive with an even larger screen that can scale to be theoretically even larger on youtube / netflix why even keep the iPad? Return policy gives me a couple more days to decide but if I'm already not finding it useful then whats the point?

You could return this iPad and purchase another one to have 14 days more and then decide with your iPhone Pro Max.

I recommend to keep your iPad with you because when you are at home you can see some films or YouTube videos and it is better on a bigger screen. You can use AirPods or beats (for example) to watch it, if you think that it is worse at the iPad.

Yes and no. I do not like my ipad air but it does serve a purpose. The 12.9 pro yeah, the phone goes on the charger and the ipad is in my hands when I am home.

I have an XS Max, 10.5 Pro, and 2018 12.9 Pro and never use the phone for video consumption - the screen is much too small and I really like the large real estate of the 12.9. But this is a matter of personal preference and for you to determine relative value for yourself. I don't think you should care what others think on something like this.

My wife primarily uses the 12.9 Pro for almost everything at home. Pro MAX phone when out on the move and normal day to day.

I'm not really and daily iPad user, I have one but out of all of my Apple products it gets used the least.

I have a Pro Max and an iPad Mini.....when I get home I'm usually just on my iPad mini when surfing, watching videos ect.....it is like double the screensize of my Max

I have an 11 Pro Max and a 12.9 iPad Pro. They are for different things. My iPad is basically a laptop replacement. The phone is a phone. I do admit I tend to grab the phone for browsing on the sofa more often than not but the iPad is great when I want a decent sized screen and I can’t be bothered firing up the desktop.

Do what works for you. I would never want to use a smaller phone instead of my 11 inch iPad Pro when I'm at home.

I use a 9.7” 5th Gen iPad for my lounging / short span / travel media consumption usage. Sometimes administrative work etc. I don’t really carry it out of the house though. My Xs Max was the road warrior and now the 11 Pro. The size of the phone is more convenient for me to carry around rather than lugging the iPad during my daily commute.

Having said that I categorically do not watch anything on my phone. I find the screen far too small to really enjoy watching content enjoyable. I mean I will watch if I don’t have a choice but I try to avoid it as much as possible.

I have a iPhone 11 pro, a iPad 11” pro and a 27” iMac in my home office, i use them all. Would like a min 5 too but not with bezels and a home button.

I think an iPhone 11 Pro Max and an iPad Pro 12.9, which is what I have, complement each other nicely. The iPad is too big for on-the-go stuff while the phone is too small for lounging stuff.

I have an 11 Pro Max, and now that iPad OS allows desktop level browsing, I sold my MacBook on eBay and and bought an iPad Pro 12.9 for use as my armchair netbook and for traveling. I agree with "Tarsins". They complement each other nicely!

I'd honestly say yes.
