is the iphone 3g compatible with any AT&T sim

AFAIK, it will work with any SIM that has a data plan. I say that because you can't use a SIM until activate by iTunes, but some BB users can use their old SIM in the iPhone. However, you can only get 3G speeds from a SIM that is 3G capable.
