The keyboard looks promising and I want a new keyboard. Do you think will be compatable with the Mini LED IPad of 2021?

I'd be surprised if it didn't, that would make it a really short-lived and expensive accessory.

Which keyboard are you referring to? If its the Magic Keyboard then yes, I’d assume the Pros will keep this form factor for a good few years.

Maybe but it’s going to be a great way for Apple to suck more money from you.
I’ve discounted it based on price and I’m keeping my 11” Pro and adding a MBA.

I think if you buy a new iPad and plan to use it for 3 years adding it would be worth it if it meets all your needs.

Wow. Do not assume Apple will keep the same form factor. They’ve been changing designs more over time, not less.

Totally agree on not assuming anything. example:if you bought a Smart Keyboard in 2018, can you use it with a 2020 pro? Obvious answer: hell no.

In my eyes, it was pure luck that they designed the new magic keyboard in such a way that it was compatible with the older ipad. If what they wanted to do design wise would have been any different, they wouldn’t hesitate to make it incompatible.

Actually yes you can. I was using the 2018 ASK on my 2020 iPad Pro until the magic keyboard arrived.

Camera hole

You can still take pictures on the old keyboard. Not sure who would want to though on a regular basics. I took pictures of it just to copy work information and it came out fine.

That said the main reason to have a keyboard won’t be to take pictures on it. You would just take it off the keyboard to do such tasks.

I am so confused right now. The new 2020 iPad Pro has a two camera setup with a lidar sensor. It’s a larger square shape. The 2018 Smart Keyboard has a smaller camera whole more akin to a slit. How would you fit your larger camera onto the 2018’s smaller hole?

All the old keyboard covers up is the LIDAR sensor so your normal camera works.

I wasn’t expecting it to work either to be fair

Yeah i actually bought a cheap case on amazon to keep me going until the magic keyboard arrived. Was a nice surprise that the old ASK worked.

Yeah i got my magic keyboard on Monday. Really love it the typing experience and built in trackpad has been just what i needed.

I would totally recommend those who have just bought the new iPad Pro and get a 2nd hand ASK as it will work just as well as the new one they released.
