I’ve heard rumors of companies trying to influence opinion on large forums before, but I never really believed them. But with an insane number of posts trying to convince people to return iPhones, not to buy the X, how Face ID somehow doesn’t work and finger scanning is better, etc. - I’m starting to wonder if this is somehow, hm, motivated by an outside factor.

I’m sure there are people who genuinely disagree with a lot of Apple’s decisions, but in all the years I don’t remember this forum ever having so many calls to leave the iPhone. Certain users are even starting multiple threads with the same theme. People who buy iPhones are insulted daily. “Cultists”, “Blind”, “Ignorants”, “Even if Apple asked for their fingers, they would still buy them”.... Also, words like “scandal” and “lies”.... I’ve never seen it this bad.

We are witnessing how social media can be abused to influence entire elections, why would this be any different? Am I being paranoid here?

It could be a conspiracy, but my money is on many iPhone owners disliking the notch, lack of touch id, narrow screen, etc.

Some people will always be unhappy with a new product, sure, but this seems different. Many members didn’t like the new MacBook keyboards or the USB-C ports either and they returned their notebooks, but I don’t remember anyone calling other users to return theirs. This is a first, since I’m here.

I don't know which posts/posters you are specifically referring to, but there are some that have been spewing Apple hate for a while. They keep repeating themselves over and over again, so I really do hope they are getting paid for it :p

I too have noticed a large influx of threads calling users to return their phones or to not buy. I think it’s strange that there is such a large amount of them but whether it’s a conspiring or not, I do not know.

A few of the haters have been here for years. They continue to buy iPhones then act like children who throw themselves on the floor while kicking, screaming and holding their breath. I give them the attention they deserve which is none. I don't understand the people who have no self-control and continue to argue with them.

Some things are opinion, like the finger print vs face id.

From what i have read, it's mostly the throttling of the phone speed at the 1 year plus point. Think maybe they are trying to get Apple to do the right thing and reverse this or at least make it optional.

It’s common practice for Android fans/Apple detractors to make detrimental comments about Apple and its users, both on social media and forums like this one. A good friend of mine constantly talks about how much better his Galaxy S8 is and how much Apple sucks. My typical response is “if you really believe that your phone is so amazing, why do you have a constant need to convince yourself of it?”

No, you're not being paranoid. I've been playing with them for over a week.

They may be well paid, but they aren't very good.

Yep, loads of people talking about how happy they are with their Galaxy S8 and how terrible the X is. So happy that they feel the need to brandish every X owner as a spineless Cook-hungry Apple sheep, rather than just leaving people alone to use what they want.

If I joined a Samsung forum just to gloat about my non-Android phone, that’d be a really lame thing to do. Really lame. Surely I could spend my time more constructively. Yet somehow when it’s the other way around with Apple, people applaud and engage in mutual hatred.

You see it all the time. Join Date: yesterday. Some generic comment about Jobs and how Cook is ruining everything. They’ve been an Apple user for 20 years too (of course). Only arrived to tell you that your choice of phone is terrible. Twelve upvotes from other users who spew the same crap on a daily basis. You meekly suggest “each to their own” and suddenly you’re brandished as an Apple apologist.

Personally it's a non-issue, I simply ignore it. I am entrenched enough in the IOS system that it's going to take much more than some negative postings to make me jump ship.

Anyone that does such a thing, deserves the karma and paycheck they'll get. Anyone who actually listens to these people, also deserve to what they get, a phone that may not meet their individual needs. I don't really know if it's concerted, but if the US election can be driven by bots and people believing fake news, then why not a consumer product. That is sad and really lame though. If it were true, get a life and a real job.

Yes, but call one of them out- with provable facts- and see what the moderators here do to you.

The moderators here are part of the problem- probably because the craposts drive more traffic.

(Now watch me get suspended or banned for saying the truth here)
