I bought the 15" a little bit after it came out.

Since then I have gotten used to the heat by using cloth on the palm rests,<I still cant imagine a laptop where the palm rest are too hot>... stopped the Whine with the Mirror widget and never heard a Moo.

Now I am thinking that after the WWDC and hopefully new laptops.

I have been eyeing the 17".

I actually like the glossy new screen.
The Q's is does the larger Alu body disperse heat more?

Will the added real estate help with logic or better yet Live and various PS trips more than the loss of portability.

Then there is Firewire 800. Yes I could use it for my external drive.

That one extra USB is actually important at times.

120 gigs is 40 more and that makes a huge difference also.

But the size is what kills me and all mylaptop bags will be uhh too small!@

Love hear some opinions about this and form anyone that has a 17 " . is it cooler.

TIA:D

Not sure if the 17" would run cooler (although since it is larger I imagine that it would dissipate the heat in a better fashion). Even the current silent rev of the MacBook Pros seem to run cooler than the original ones. :)

The 17" MacBook Pros/PowerBook G4s have always seemed to be great laptops- but to me they are too big to haul around. :)

In what week of MBP production did this "silent revision" take place?

Hey Mr Bill Gates

Its been confirmed that it runs cooler and has better battery life?!!

Really?

Where are these confirmations? and are there reasons stated for this happening?

This is really good news if true.

The 17" has more room for air and fans and the 17" has a bigger battery so it only seems logical.

I've had a 17" PB and 15" MBP. The dimensions made no difference at all. I noticed the weight a little bit, but that's a personal preference. For me the extras outweigh 1lb.
