I am considering in getting a MacBook Pro 2015 for light browsing(schoolwork and some light coding) and light gaming things like Project Zomboid or Wargame red dragon would the 2015 MacBook pro be worth it in 2024 for 300 dollars? Also which models have the extra amd graphics card?

You can get a MacBook Air with the M1 SoC at Walmart for $649. That machine would remain compatible for significantly longer than a 2015 Mac regardless of the CPU and GPU inside the machine. Given the age of the machine, chances are some of the apps you might use for schoolwork and coding may not even run because they require newer versions of Mac OS than a 2015 Mac supports.

I have the MPB 2015 13" (my only MacBook), but I don't use it much, and definitely not for games. It's capable of browsing and light work and will not betray you, even for heavy coding. The price you mention is reasonable for that machine today but, irrespective of its use, try to find a 16 GB RAM model.

Still, I would take the dmccloud's advice seriously and consider a Silicon-based machine.

I have three 15" 2015 MBPs all with 16GB memory & a 2TB WD NVMe SSD using a Sintech adapter. I use the 2.5GHz one with ATI graphics as my main laptop & the two 2.2GHz systems are used as desktop machines. The last one I bought (2.5GHz CPU) cost me £174 on eBay.

These machines are an absolute bargain & plenty adequate for my use. I run Monterey on my main machine & Sonoma with OCLP on the other machines.

2015 is a great machine! I think you might be able to get it for less than $300 though. Check the serial number here https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall and you might be eligible for a new (FREE) battery replacement from Apple under their recall program. Also, keep in mind that support for Monterey just ended. Monterey is the last OS the 2015 officially supports.
