Is the magic mouse better than magic trackpad for gaming?

Just wondering as I've heard the magic trackpad is crap for gaming, wondering if the magic mouse is better. If both aren't good please tell me what you use for gaming.
 
All Apple mice are unanimously awful for gaming, and many other people including myself don't like the ergonomics of Apple mice for general use either.

Get a real mouse (a wired one unless you actually need wireless. If it's only for desktop use, it's just a pain to have to deal with batteries). There are a plethora of good mice on Amazon for good prices. The Logitech MX 518 is a very good mouse for only $38.

Agreed. All Apple mice are horrbile for gaming. I have a logitech mouse that I use for gaming.
 
I like the Magic Mouse very much for general use. It stinks for gaming, but it can be made bearable by tweaking sensitivity settings in your game. I use it in CoD4 because it's all I have at the moment.

Definitely recommend getting a different mouse for gaming.
 
I agree, all Apple mice are horrible for gaming and general use. I use the Logitech Performance MX on my iMac and MBP.

A trackpad for gaming... seriously?:rolleyes:
 
Magic Mouse is the ultimate mobility mouse for me to take when I'm away from home. That being said, it does what I need in Adobe CS and nothing more. Games are absolutely brutal with that thing.
 
I use only Apple mice and since christmas eve the trackpad, too. I wouldn't use the trackpad to play. You can set preferences to have a left and a right click. But that doesn't make playing easier.
 
Yea, not good at all. Trackpads aren't good either.
A friend of mine recently bought a Macbook and just a few days ago his PC (inc mouse) were stolden. Since then he's been using his Macbook with the trackpad and, well lets just say he's not a valuable addition to our L4D team :D.
 
Apple's mice suck for gaming. I often switch from my Magic Mouse to my standard twobuttonsandascrollwheel mouse for gaming.

For general use... I really like the Magic Mouse. I hated the Mighty Mouse and the Pro Mouse but I think the Magic Mouse with bettertouchtool is pretty damn sweet.
 
Magic Mouse + Gaming = No

I used the Magic Mouse for both general purpose and gaming for about a month or two after it first came out (2009?). It was great for web browsing, but had at least two problems for gaming:
1. Can't press both left and right buttons simultaneously;
2. Right-clicks were picked up as left clicks about 1 time out of 20.

The first is not a problem if your game doesn't use simultaneous left/right, but it's a deal killer if the game needs it.

The second may or may not be my fault (operator error). But I did give the Magic Mouse over a month to see if I could overcome problem #2 and was never able to.

Don't use a Magic Mouse for gaming.

The Mighty Mouse did that too. If your finger is down on the left click side, any click will be interpreted as a left click. It's the one thing about Apple mice that does infuriate me, even in general use. Only way to fix it is to learn to hold your fingers above the mouse at the right times. :D
 
I just wants to add to this wonderful thread.

All of Apple's mice went to vomits-ville, when Jobs came back and forced those wretched torture-designed hockey-puck mice upon all the new Macs. What a waste!


Now a decade later, even Apple's keyboards are crap. And why can't I have a numeric keypad on my MacBook Pro instead of bigger speakers ... :(

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this has to be a troll.
 
Trackpad would be fine for slow, turn-based games such as Civilization. It would suck with the other 99% of games. Just go buy a $5 mouse.

This seems so obvious to me.

Tested Borderlands with a Magic TrackPad that was epic! I much prefer the my trusty Logitech MX or Razor gaming mouse when it comes to anything game related. Track pad is great for messy/small desks though!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds Apple mice crap for gaming. They look great and work well for 99% of usage, but when playing a FPS or something, the mouse feels slow and it's hard to click on what I want to click on.

I personally use just a cheap Micro$oft USB mouse and a Logitech bluetooth mouse and they both work fine when playing UT or CSS.
