im looking to buy an imac, I've been doing tons of research and I see a lot that imac retina screens cause dizziness and eye strain etc. also issues with being glossy and reflecting.

If I take my sons ipad and put it where I want to put my imac, there is some reflection, compared to if I put my windows matte screen there is zero relfection.

Did they fix this problem with the screen or should I just get mac mini with a matte monitor?

Hello and welcome to the forums! :)
Retina screens themselves do not cause dizziness and eye strain per se. A small percentage of persons are affected, but that goes for every screen: Some people can't stand OLED, for example, others don't like the screen of an iMac. So you should just look at one for yourself (Apple Store or any reseller in your town?) and decide upon that.
There is no problem with this screen; it's just another layer on your display. I personally could not go back to any matte screen, I think it looks way better when you're looking at it for hours. Others would not trade their matte display for a glossy one like iMac. This is something that completely boils down to your personal preference. But there is no problem with the iMac screen.
