You know, the mystical huge amount of memory that builds up, is it still there after people have upgraded?

are you talking about what's shown on iTunes? I believe it has something to do with older backups.

Yeah, the one in iTunes that apple refuses to talk about.I've read so many rumours about what it is, but there's no option to clear it out when your phone fills up.

Left over app data, SMS/MMS data, email data, upgrades, lots possibles, but it can be quite a few Gb and that matters on a 16Gb phone as it's only got about 10Gb when clean.

Not really, but.

I use this app which actually frees up space by deleting cache. I don't know how it works, but it does. I've recovered several gigabytes that cache used to take up.

It's on the App Store, too. It's disguised as a Battery Saver app, so it probably uses an exploit to achieve this.

lately the when other is way too much like 20 or 50 gb
(more then a year ago)
i turn on iTunes match, the iPhone says that it will delete my existing music on the iPhone, but it borks and
the music goes to other. turning off iTunes match, results in the music coming back, and then you manually delete it
and then turn on iTunes match again

(currently)
i am having issues with photos. my iPhone will say i have 28 gb free. i have 28 gigs in photos and camera.
but iTunes will say i have 8 gigs in photos and 20 gigs of other and 12 gigs free.

(theory)
photos, videos, music values on iTunes should match photos videos and music values on the iPhone. if you have a lot of other and those 3 categories don't match then that is what your other is.

For the photos, I had the same, then I found the phone has a deleted folder for all the one I thought were gone. Check your deleted folder in photos on the phone.

yeah i looked there and cleared it out once. i think photos is stroring duplicate videos to my iPhone

i was thinking about exporting everything from photos to a directory and reimporting everything

is it possible that photos syncs to your iPhone and i don't need to tell iTunes to sync from photos?

thats almost sounds like what is going on
