Just curious if the public beta is more stable than Yosemite. I have had nothing but issues with Yosemite. Just wondering if I should get the beta of El Capitan

There's no one way answer. For some it may be just as good, for some not so much. It all depends on what apps you use. Best way to find out is to try it yourself. I don't have any problems with El Cap and use it as my main but that doesn't mean everyone can do it, it's still a beta and in some cases it may be a bad idea to use it instead of Yosemite. Just try it.
I have had no problems other than email acting a little strange. With that said 10.11 seems very stable and I've been running it full time.
There are definitely problems. The performance is better, but not the stability. Rule of thumb: if you need your Mac to work, don't use the beta. For casual use, it is probably alright.
I've been on the public beta for both Yosemite and El Capitan and in terms of the 1st party apps and features from Apple El Capitan is definitely stable and it is also way smoother compared to Yosemite.
I have an app that does not work in El Capitan (but developer promised updates), but other than that no issues.
The fact that you are asking if you should try out the public a week after it has been out means you are probably have reservations about it compared to some of us who were furiously refreshing till the actual time of the beta's release.
So what I would do if I were you is to take note of the apps you need to use regularly and check out the other thread for apps that don't work in El Capitan, and wait for the second El Capitan public beta which will be supposedly out nextweek month.
Edit: Developer beta next week based on usual trend, Public beta in three weeks.

Weren't public betas on a monthly cycle last year? Like every other DP build was released to the public?
I'm using El Capitan on another partition but it's been pretty speedy and stable compared to the latest release of Yosemite, but I'm probably going to wait until the second build to use it full time
For me it is far more stable and all the weird little quirks I had on one of my machines all through Yosemite (like graphics lagging after sleep unless being woken up by the power button) has gone away. There are still a few kinks that obviously haven't been worked out yet, like problem if you enable the new two-step verification, and if you see no reason to update yet I'd watch until the final release.
I too have uninstalled it I have had a lot of crashes and it was starting to get annoying. don't get me wrong I like testing things and there have been a lot of features I have found very useful. But with the software the way it is. I am liable to go grey, bald or both!
So in the meantime I will hold out till it is released.

Yosemite has been rock solid. El Capitan is just a bug ridden mess. Besides the crashes, I still can't get continuity to work.
Exactly, I was surprised that El Cap had many issues being that it is suppose to be an OS X that focuses on stability. Maybe the new metal for graphics is the issue. Not sure; but I have to downgrade back to OS X Yosemite.
I'd say no. Yosemite was very stable for me. We are at the beginning of the Cap beta so I expect some issues/glitches. So far so good, except Exchange with Mail.app.
On my 2012 Air, its been great. If anything, its sped it up quite a bit. Battery life is the same in my usage...maybe I've been getting about another 1/2 hour out of a charge in El Capitan
The only issue I've encountered is freezing leading me to restart my Mac at least three times a day.
For me on my rImac, it's been much more stable than Yosemite. Much better overall. Yosemite would randomly reboot several times a week, and it was not uncommon for me to find it restarted whenever I went to use the computer.
El Cap has been much better. Not only is it faster, it's much more stable for me. I've gone a couple weeks without a reboot, and mostly it's stable. There are areas that need to be worked on, and several programs that either don't work, or don't work optimally, but I understand it's a beta, and this will all be worked on.
For the privilege of using it now, I feel it's my job to report back to Apple with whatever issues I find, and I do that regularly.

I just downloaded it, and it's very fast and stable for me. I'm not using any third party apps yet, just testing all the Apple software. So far, it's great. I'm gonna keep using this as my "daily driver" (check email, etc) so I can catch all the little issues. I feel like I have more Yosemite issues than I do El Capitan, but idk. If you want to use it, I would HIGHLY suggest partitioning your drive or using a different one for this. Don't ever install over your main system unless it's all backed up. I have it on a 40GB SSD partition and it works great. Obviously the main issues are in iTunes 12.2.1 with Apple Music.... *sigh*
