I know some apps will and can run in the background in a certain mode but not use as much resources when on the screen.

huh?

How RAMs work

You do know if you have too much unused RAM it is actually not good for your overall user experience? iPhones in general hardware and software are way more optimized than Androids, that's why they are not as power hungry as Androids.

What would you need more ram for Max? What’s missing in your use case experience?

I think he's saying since big iPhones still can't run two apps side by side they don't need as much memory?

I think that more and more camera capability is link to amount of RAM. I care more about that than running two apps at same time. We already have PiP capability...I am good.

Doesn't the 12 Pro iPhones have 6GB of RAM ?

Isn't that enough if the new M1 Mac that are based on the A14 iPhone chips?

My M1 Mini running with 8GB of UNIFIED MEMORY runs dual displays, dozens of apps at the same time, and does not slow down like the old Intel processors.

Gotta love Apple for integrating their iPad/iPhone chips into their new line of Macs!
